Abstract

A new study conducted by researchers at Tehran University of Medical Sciences has found that intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy can significantly reduce spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy. The study, which involved a systematic review and meta-analysis of multiple studies, found that ITB therapy led to a 40.25% reduction in spasticity scores. Additionally, there was a small but statistically significant improvement in motor function in the patients. However, the study also noted that there were some medical complications associated with ITB therapy, including seizures, infections, and cerebrospinal fluid leaks. [Extracted from the article]
