Abstract
- A recent report from the University of Iowa discusses the findings of a study on pediatric vaccines. The study focuses on serious neurological adverse events in immunocompetent children and adolescents caused by viral reactivation following varicella vaccination. The researchers found 15 cases of varicella vaccine meningitis in immunocompetent children and adolescents, with the median age being 11 years. They also discovered five additional cases of serious neurological events. Although the number of adverse events is low, the researchers recommend documenting those caused by the vaccine virus.
