Abstract
- Researchers at the University of Paris Saclay have released new data on Parkinson's Disease. The study focuses on the potential use of doxycycline, an antibiotic, for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. While doxycycline has limitations due to its antibiotic activity, the researchers designed and synthesized modified derivatives of doxycycline that showed improved inhibition of alpha-synuclein aggregation and anti-inflammatory effects. These findings suggest that these newly designed tetracyclines could be promising drug candidates for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. Further in-vivo studies are needed to confirm these results. [Extracted from the article]
