Abstract

A preprint abstract from biorxiv.org discusses the role of Rab6a in the trafficking of human papillomavirus (HPV) during cell entry. Rab6a is a protein that facilitates the movement of HPV from the endosome to the trans-Golgi network (TGN), the Golgi apparatus, and eventually the nucleus. Knockdown of Rab6a impairs HPV entry by preventing intra-Golgi transport of the virus, leading to its accumulation in the TGN. Rab6a supports HPV trafficking by facilitating the association of HPV with dynein, a motor protein complex, and BICD2, a dynein adaptor. This research provides insights into the molecular basis of HPV trafficking and identifies potential targets for inhibiting HPV infection. [Extracted from the article]
