Abstract

A study conducted by the National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore explored the effectiveness of using immersive virtual reality (iVR) as a training tool for surgical skills. The study compared the use of iVR instructional recordings with traditional methods such as reading written manuals or watching 2D instructional videos. The results showed that students who used iVR training experienced greater improvements in suturing skills compared to those who used written manuals. While the iVR group also showed improvements compared to the 2D video group, the difference was not statistically significant. This study suggests that iVR training using real-world recordings can be a valuable tool for surgical training. [Extracted from the article]
