Abstract

A new report from the Aravind Eye Hospital and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology in Tamil Nadu, India provides insights into the prevalence of advanced stages of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in premature infants. The study found that late presentation of infants with advanced stages of ROP is often due to a lack of awareness and screening. The research highlights the importance of early detection and management of ROP in premature infants. The study included 220 eyes of 110 premature infants and found that 47.27% of infants underwent vitreoretinal surgery. [Extracted from the article]
