Abstract
- A patent application has been filed for an efficient cryopreservation medium that eliminates the need for cell permeating cryoprotectants. Cryopreservation is the technique of storing biological materials at temperatures below freezing, but current methods rely on small molecule cryoprotectants that can cause issues. The new cryopreservation medium includes hydrophilic particles or macromolecules that form nano scale cubic ice around the lipid membrane of biological structures, protecting them during freezing.
