Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine examined the outcomes of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) who were treated with either panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) or anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) monotherapy. The study found that patients treated with PRP monotherapy had higher rates of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), vitreous hemorrhage (VH), and tractional retinal detachment (TRD) compared to those treated with anti-VEGF monotherapy. However, the researchers noted that confounding factors may have influenced these associations. This study provides valuable insights into the treatment options for PDR and highlights the need for further evaluation in clinical practice. [Extracted from the article]
