Abstract

New research from the University of California Santa Cruz has identified a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) called LOUP that plays a multifunctional role in regulating macrophage differentiation and inflammatory signaling. The study used high-throughput CRISPRi screens to investigate the functions of lncRNAs in monocyte function and differentiation. LOUP was found to regulate the myeloid fate-determining factor SPI1, affecting monocyte macrophage differentiation, and also negatively regulate TLR4/NFkB signaling. This research highlights the importance of high-throughput screening in understanding the functional roles of lncRNAs in the innate immune system. [Extracted from the article]
