Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine sheds light on the opioid crisis in Florida. The study examines the distribution rates of oxycodone and hydrocodone across different counties in Florida from 2006 to 2021. The data reveals significant differences in opioid distribution, particularly oxycodone, between counties during the peak years of the epidemic. Legislative actions taken between 2009 and 2011 coincide with a decline in opioid distribution after 2010. This research provides valuable insights into the impact of prescribing laws and pain clinics on the opioid crisis in Florida. [Extracted from the article]
