Abstract

A study conducted in Karnataka, India compared the efficiency of different approaches in functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The study divided 150 CRS patients into three groups: one group received traditional FESS, another group received balloon sinuplasty, and the third group received powered instrumentation. The primary outcome measures included symptom alleviation and quality of life. The study found that balloon sinuplasty was more effective in relieving symptoms and had fewer postoperative complications compared to FESS and powered instrumentation. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings and determine the best surgical strategy for CRS. [Extracted from the article]
