Abstract

A new study conducted by researchers at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia in Spain explores the fluorescence properties of the topical retinoid adapalene, a dermatological agent used in acne therapy. The study investigates the absorption and emission properties of adapalene in different solvents and biological media, revealing a strong positive solvatochromism for the emission. Molecular modeling and simulations suggest the presence of two quasi-degenerate states, and the study demonstrates the potential of adapalene to act as a biological probe using albumin, DNA, and micelles. This research provides valuable information on the localization and interaction of drugs in the body. [Extracted from the article]
