Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Cologne in Germany has provided new data on left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). The study focused on the evaluation of intraoperative right ventricular myocardial work indices during LVAD implantation. The researchers found that combining right ventricular myocardial strain with loading conditions can provide insights into cardiac mechanics, energetics, and efficiency. This technique has not been previously described intraoperatively using transesophageal echocardiography. The study suggests that monitoring right ventricular myocardial work indices during LVAD implantation may assist in making decisions during the procedure. [Extracted from the article]
