Abstract

When we experience fear or stress, our body goes into action to protect us. The brain releases stress chemicals like adrenaline, which gives us a burst of energy. This triggers a series of changes in our body known as the fight-or-flight response, which prepares us to either fight off danger or run away. These changes can last up to an hour even after the threat is gone, which is why we may still feel upset even when we know we are safe. We can also change our feelings about scary situations by changing how we think about them. [Extracted from the article]
