Abstract
- Researchers at the University Hospital Heraklion in Crete, Greece, have conducted a study on antibiotic resistance in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic skin condition. The study found that 79.86% of skin lesions tested positive for bacteria, with Gram-positive isolates accounting for 73% and Gram-negative isolates comprising 27%. The antibiogram profiles revealed high resistance rates to various antibiotics, including levofloxacin, penicillin, and tigecycline. The researchers concluded that patients with HS display significant resistance to bacterial proliferation, and revised therapeutic guidelines should consider the latest insights into antibiotic resistance.
