Abstract
- A new report from researchers at St. Louis University discusses the clinicopathologic features of a case of pityriasis rosea-like drug eruption secondary to imatinib, a drug used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia. Pityriasis rosea is a skin condition characterized by erythematous and scaly lesions, and drug eruptions that resemble this condition have been reported. The distinction between classic pityriasis rosea and drug-related eruptions is important for management purposes. The study found that while the clinical morphology of the drug-related eruption mimics classic pityriasis rosea, unique histopathologic findings can aid in distinguishing between the two.
