Abstract
- A recent study conducted in the Monaragala District of Sri Lanka analyzed the factors associated with delays in seeking treatment for leptospirosis, a life-threatening zoonotic infection. The study found that socio-demographic factors such as marital status, monthly income, time taken to reach a healthcare facility, and cost of travel were significantly associated with delays in seeking treatment. However, factors such as age, sex, education, nationality, occupation, distance from home to a healthcare facility, and mode of travel were not significant. The study recommends raising awareness about the source of leptospirosis infection to prevent complications and deaths. [Extracted from the article]
