Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences in Haryana, India, has explored the treatment of mucormycosis, a fungal infection that primarily affects the maxilla. The infection can lead to palatal perforation and bone necrosis, resulting in difficulty with speech, swallowing, and chewing. While surgical reconstruction is the preferred treatment, the researchers propose the use of a digitally fabricated precision attachment retained definitive prosthesis as an economical and effective alternative for restoring maxillary defects in mucormycosis patients. This case report highlights the successful implementation of this approach. [Extracted from the article]
