Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Coimbra in Portugal evaluated the tribocorrosion behavior of the Ti-6Al-4V biomedical alloy in simulated oral environments. The study found that when subjected to fluoridated media, the Ti-6Al-4V alloy experienced higher mass loss but no significant roughness variation. The researchers concluded that fluor-containing substances should be avoided over Ti-6Al-4V alloys in areas of mechanical wear, especially if dental amalgam is also present. This research provides valuable insights for dentistry and technology in the field of oral health. [Extracted from the article]
