Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center explored the effectiveness of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) compared to traditional surgery in treating oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) patients. The study found that TORS exhibited a superior prognosis for OPC patients, particularly those with a T1-T2 classification and stages I-II or III-IV. Additionally, the study identified specific single-nucleotide variations (SNVs) in the HPV16 genome that were associated with worse survival in HPV-positive OPC patients. These findings have important implications for treatment decision-making and prognostic assessment in patients with OPC. [Extracted from the article]
