Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg in Germany examined the impact of perioperative acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) administration on postoperative intracranial hemorrhage (pICH) and thromboembolic events in patients with intracranial meningiomas. The study analyzed medical records and radiological images of 1862 patients who underwent cranial neurosurgical procedures for brain tumors over a decade. The results showed that patients who received ASA treatment had a higher risk of postoperative hemorrhage compared to those who did not receive ASA treatment. However, there was no significant difference in the incidence of thromboembolic events between the two groups. This research provides valuable insights into the potential risks associated with perioperative ASA use in patients with intracranial meningiomas. [Extracted from the article]
