Abstract

A study conducted at the University of Utah Hospital provides new insights into cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy (CSEP), a potentially dangerous complication of cesarean section deliveries. The research highlights the importance of early diagnosis and prompt treatment of CSEP to prevent severe maternal morbidity and mortality. CSEP can be difficult to diagnose and is often underreported, leading to delayed treatment and negative consequences. Early recognition of CSEP allows for surgical intervention, which can decrease healthcare costs, shorten hospital stays, preserve fertility, and prevent iatrogenic preterm delivery.
