Abstract

A research study conducted by the Berlin Center for Epidemiology and Health Research (ZEG) compared the safety and effectiveness of two types of female contraceptive agents, NOMAC-E2 and levonorgestrel-containing COCs (COCLNG), in women over the age of 40. The study, which included participants from Europe, Australia, and Latin America, found that NOMAC-E2 did not increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared to COCLNG. Additionally, unintended pregnancy rates were similar between the two groups, and there were no significant differences in mood and weight changes. The researchers concluded that NOMAC-E2 can be considered a valid alternative to COCLNG for perimenopausal women. [Extracted from the article]
