Abstract
- A pilot study conducted at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, explored the feasibility of using methoxyflurane (PenthroxTM) as an anesthetic agent for outpatient cystoscopic procedures. The study involved 11 patients, and the average duration of the procedure was 24 minutes. Patients rated their pain levels at an average of 4 out of 10, and the overall performance of the treatment was rated at 3 out of 4. Four patients reported mild to moderate adverse events, including euphoria, dizziness, and intolerance to the medication. The study suggests that methoxyflurane may offer clinical benefits for outpatient urologic procedures. [Extracted from the article]
