Abstract

Researchers at the National Rehabilitation Hospital have published a case report on the use of intrathecal baclofen for a patient with neurofibromatosis-related spinal cord injury and spasticity. The patient, a 35-year-old male, experienced lower limb weakness and severe spasticity, requiring assistance for daily activities. After a successful trial of intrathecal baclofen and subsequent implantation of a pump, the patient's muscle tone improved, and he achieved independence in transfers and most activities of daily living. This case report highlights the potential benefits of intrathecal baclofen for individuals with neurofibromatosis-related spinal cord injury and spasticity. [Extracted from the article]
