Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Wuhan University in China examined the relationship between adenotonsillar hypertrophy and dentofacial characteristics in children seeking orthodontic treatment. The study included a sample of 598 orthodontic patients aged 6-12, and compared the dentofacial characteristics of children with and without adenoid and/or tonsillar hypertrophy. The results showed that children with adenoid hypertrophy tended to have skeletal Class II malocclusion, while those with tonsillar hypertrophy tended to have skeletal Class III malocclusion. The study concluded that over 80% of children seeking orthodontic treatment had either adenoid or tonsillar hypertrophy. [Extracted from the article]
