Abstract
- Researchers at Universidad Catolica del Norte in Chile have developed a novel electrochemical sensor that can rapidly and simultaneously detect levels of serotonin and 17b-estradiol, two key analytes implicated in premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The sensor demonstrated high sensitivity and stability, as well as selectivity against common interferents found in biological fluids. It was successfully used to measure serotonin and 17b-estradiol in human serum and urine. The researchers believe that this sensor has the potential to contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of PMDD, and may improve the quality of life for women suffering from hormonal malfunctions.
