Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, People's Republic of China, explores the role of fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) in the ferroptotic death of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The study identifies Major vault protein (MVP) as a target of FGF21 and reveals that knockdown of MVP inhibits lipid peroxidation levels in HCC cells, thereby attenuating the effect of FGF21-mediated ferroptosis. The study provides new insights into the regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis in HCC. [Extracted from the article]
