Abstract
- A recent study conducted in Taiwan has found a significant link between Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). The study analyzed population datasets from 2007 to 2017 and found that HPV-positive patients had a considerably higher risk of CRC compared to non-infected individuals. The risk was higher in males than females, and increased with advancing age. The study also revealed varying risks for different anatomical locations, with the anus having the highest risk. Comorbid conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and abnormal liver function were also found to correlate with increased CRC risks. These findings highlight the need for intervention strategies and targeted prevention for individuals at risk. [Extracted from the article]
