Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran focused on the use of mesoporous silica and alumina nanoparticles to improve drug delivery of pioglitazone for diabetic type 1 nephropathy in rats. The researchers synthesized the nanoparticles and loaded them with pioglitazone, which showed a superior release of about 80%. The study found that the mesoporous silica containing the drug significantly decreased various diabetic parameters and improved renal function. The researchers concluded that mesoporous nanoparticles have the potential to serve as a promising drug carrier for poorly water-soluble drugs and could provide beneficial effects on diabetic parameters.
