Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Messina in Italy explores the connection between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the peptide bombesin. The study suggests that bombesin and related peptides may play a role in reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in GERD patients. The researchers conducted experiments on mice and found that bombesin administration reduced abdominal pain and inflammatory markers, similar to the effects of omeprazole, a commonly used treatment for GERD. These findings indicate that targeting bombesin and related peptides could be a promising alternative approach for treating GERD. [Extracted from the article]
