Abstract

A recent study has developed and evaluated a 16-channel MRI coil array made from flexible copper foil sheets. The coils were manufactured using a die cut process and showed superior signal-to-noise ratio, lower noise correlation, and better parallel imaging performance compared to a commercially available flexible coil. Phantom testing demonstrated a 17-20% improvement in signal-to-noise ratio, while in vivo testing confirmed higher signal-to-noise ratio and enhanced image quality. The use of copper foil sheets allowed for rapid production of the coils without compromising quality, making them a cost-effective solution for improving the accessibility, adaptability, and performance of MRI technology.
