Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of St Andrews focused on the challenges and strategies for cleaning routinely collected data on total knee replacements (TKR) and total hip replacements (THR) in the Kingdom of Fife. The researchers utilized data from NHS Fife, which included information on patient demographics, type of surgery, recovery time, follow-ups, revision, and outcomes. Using the programming language R, the researchers transformed the raw data into a more functional form, combining variables and converting purposeless values into missing data. The cleaned data can now be linked to other datasets and used for future machine learning models to assess the risk and outcomes of multiple knee and hip replacements. [Extracted from the article]
