Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at AstraZeneca investigated the pharmacokinetics of poorly soluble compounds when administered intramuscularly as crystalline particles of different sizes. The study found that smaller particles of the drugs resulted in higher maximum plasma concentration and area under the plasma concentration-time profile. However, the relationship between particle size and exposure was more complex at lower doses. The study highlights the importance of understanding the physicochemical properties of the drug and the characteristics of the formulations.
