Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, explored the interaction between two antidiabetic agents, glipizide and losartan, and human serum albumin (HSA). The study found that the glycation of HSA significantly altered its structure and reduced the binding affinity of glipizide and losartan to the protein. The researchers also observed that the presence of one drug in the albumin complex could lead to competitive binding or displacement of the other drug. The study highlights the importance of closely monitoring patients who are co-administered these drugs to ensure optimal therapeutic efficacy and safety. [Extracted from the article]
