Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, China, has explored the use of nanosheets in cancer treatment. The researchers developed an injectable nanocomposite hydrogel platform that combines cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug, with calcined MgMnFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH250) nanosheets. These nanosheets generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and consume glutathione (GSH), which enhances the effectiveness of cisplatin in killing tumor cells. The hydrogel platform also helps regulate the release of cisplatin and reduces the transportation distance of ROS, resulting in improved antitumor efficacy. This research provides a promising approach to enhance the efficiency of chemotherapy in treating cancer. [Extracted from the article]
