Abstract
- A report from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran discusses the use of engineered hybrid carbon nanohorns-lipid platforms for the delivery of cisplatin to colorectal cancer. The researchers synthesized two bio-inspired carbon nanohorns platforms with tumor targeting capabilities and tested their efficacy in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that the nanoplatforms preserved cisplatin toxicity, demonstrated elongated circulation time, and showed site-specific delivery to the tumor site while reducing accumulation in the kidney. The research suggests that delivering cisplatin through surface-modified carbon nanoplatforms can improve cancer therapy outcomes and resolve systemic toxicity. [Extracted from the article]
