Abstract

According to a preprint abstract from biorxiv.org, fibroblasts play a role in regulating the transformation potential of human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive keratinocytes. While persistent HPV infection is necessary for viral oncogenesis, additional factors such as immune evasion and viral integration contribute to HPV-induced cancer progression. It is widely accepted that HPV-positive keratinocytes require co-culture with fibroblasts to maintain viral episome expression, but the exact mechanisms for this are still unknown. Comprehensive RNA sequencing and proteomic analysis have provided insights into the role of fibroblasts in HPV-related transformation mechanisms. However, it is important to note that this preprint has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
