Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands has found that high levels of apolipoprotein B48 (apoB48) are associated with an increased risk of late graft failure in kidney transplant recipients. ApoB48 is a marker for remnant lipoproteins derived from the intestine, which have been linked to atherosclerotic plaque formation. The study suggests that targeting lipid absorption through pharmacological interventions may improve graft outcomes. These findings provide valuable insights into the risk factors for late graft failure in kidney transplant recipients. [Extracted from the article]
