Abstract

A recent study conducted in Jinan, People's Republic of China, focused on the treatment of splenic cysts in children. Splenic cysts are rare benign tumors that are usually discovered incidentally through imaging. The study reported a case of a 13-year-old boy who underwent laparoscopic partial splenectomy to treat a splenic cyst. The researchers found that transumbilical single-site laparoscopic partial splenectomy is a minimally invasive and effective treatment for children with splenic cysts. The study concluded that surgery is necessary for symptomatic patients or those with a cyst diameter greater than or equal to 5 cm. [Extracted from the article]
