Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj Napoca, Romania, explored the association between vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms and cutaneous manifestations in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The study found that the VDR-FokI polymorphism CC genotype may have a protective role against acne and seborrhea in women with PCOS. Additionally, the dominant genotype of VDR-TaqI was associated with reduced oxidative stress in PCOS patients. This research provides valuable insights into the genetic factors that contribute to the development of skin manifestations in PCOS. [Extracted from the article]
