Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Krakow, Poland, aimed to determine the effectiveness of implementing the ERAS protocol after ileostomy reversal surgery. The study involved a systematic review and meta-analysis of six articles, which found that following the ERAS protocol resulted in a shorter length of hospital stay without increasing complications or readmission rates. The researchers recommend the implementation of the ERAS protocol in clinical practice for patients undergoing ileostomy reversal surgery. This information is available in the journal article "Is ERAS Protocol Necessary during Ileostomy Reversal in Patients after Anterior Rectal Resection-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" published in Gastroenterology Insights.
