Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Mosul in Iraq focused on the detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in locally made basturma, a traditional meat product. The study found that S. aureus was present in 6.7% of the basturma samples tested, with all isolates identified as MRSA. The researchers also identified the spa type of the S. aureus isolates as t213 and registered three novel S. aureus sequences in the NCBI Genbank. The study concluded that the S. aureus isolates from the basturma samples were similar to other S. aureus isolates from around the world. [Extracted from the article]
