Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of the Witwatersrand focused on Group B Streptococcus (GBS), a significant cause of infections in infants and pregnant women. The research aimed to identify potential vaccine targets by analyzing the distribution of surface proteins in GBS isolates from South Africa. Through in silico analysis, the study identified ten highly conserved proteins that could serve as promising vaccine antigen targets, emphasizing the importance of developing vaccines against GBS.
