Abstract

A study conducted at Al-Wataniya Private University explored the impact of adding sodium bicarbonate 8.4% to local anesthesia on pain during upper canine infiltration. The research found that using buffered lidocaine and epinephrine with sodium bicarbonate resulted in less pain during injection compared to unbuffered lidocaine with epinephrine. The study involved two groups of volunteers and assessed injection discomfort using a visual analog scale. This research provides new insights into the potential benefits of alkalizing local anesthetics to alleviate injection pain. [Extracted from the article]
