Abstract
- Researchers from the Medical College of Wisconsin have highlighted the increasing incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the United States and globally. While diet and exercise are the first-line treatments for GDM, approximately 30% of patients may require pharmacotherapy. The study aims to summarize recent and ongoing trials focusing on GDM pharmacotherapy, addressing controversies surrounding glycemic threshold values and treatment intensity. This research, supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, emphasizes the need for further exploration of pharmacological treatments for gestational diabetes.
