Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, focused on the use of nanoparticles in promoting photodynamic therapy (PDT) and antitumor immunity by inhibiting antioxidant systems. The researchers designed a nanomedicine using hydroxyethyl starch to co-load photosensitizer pyropheophorbide a (PPa) and cisplatin prodrug Pt-COOH(IV) to inhibit antioxidant systems and enhance PDT and immune responses. The study demonstrated that the nanomedicine, PtHPs, effectively reduced antioxidants, improved cell-killing effects, and promoted antitumor immune responses in both primary and distal tumors. This research provides a new strategy for enhancing PDT therapy-mediated antitumor immunity by overcoming intrinsic antioxidant systems. [Extracted from the article]
