Abstract

A recent study conducted at Western University in Canada focused on temporal lobe epilepsy, specifically examining the use of diffusion MRI to detect abnormalities in drug-resistant TLE patients. The research found that microscopic fractional anisotropy was reduced in the hippocampus of TLE patients, particularly in the CA4/DG region. This metric may aid in improving seizure focus localization in surgical candidates, especially in MR-negative patients. The study highlights the potential of diffusion MRI to complement standard imaging procedures and enhance preoperative assessment for TLE patients. [Extracted from the article]
