Abstract

A recent study conducted at Morgan State University explored the interaction of 6-thioguanine (6-TG) with an aluminum metal-organic framework (Al-MOF) to achieve delayed drug release for the treatment of leukemia. The research utilized mechano-chemistry to study the bonding of 6-TG to the matrix, resulting in a significantly slower release of the drug compared to pure 6-TG. The composite showed a time-dependent stronger inhibition of leukemia cell colonies, indicating potential therapeutic benefits. This study sheds light on innovative approaches to drug delivery and treatment strategies for leukemia. [Extracted from the article]
