Abstract
- A study conducted at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation focused on predictive modeling of medical- and orthopaedic-related 90-day readmissions following primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). The research aimed to determine the overall, medical-related, and orthopaedic-related readmission rates and develop a predictive model for risk factors affecting these readmissions. Factors associated with medical-related readmissions included advanced age, Black race, education, comorbidity index, surgical approach, and opioid overdose risk score, while orthopaedic-related readmissions were linked to body mass index, patient-reported outcome measure phenotype, and nonosteoarthritis indication. The study concluded that tailored preventive measures based on patient-specific risk factors could reduce postoperative readmissions in the current healthcare setting. [Extracted from the article]
